Texas Holdem

Texas Holdem poker players are dealt two cards face down and then they have the make the best 5 card hand from the community cards that are dealt face up on the table. There are a total of 4 betting rounds for poker players to maximise value out of their hands. Texas Holdem is the most televised form of poker, as it is quick to pick up and easy to understand. Limit, pot limit and no limit Texas Holdem are all different varieties of the game that involve different rules about the amount that can be bet each round.
Omaha
Omaha poker is fast gaining popularity. Some poker players such as Mike the mouth even speculate it will surpass the popularity of no limit Texas Holdem in the next few years. Omaha poker has similar rules to Texas Holdem; it also has 4 betting rounds. However, Omaha poker players are dealt four cards face down. Community cards are dealt out on the board and Omaha poker players must use 2 of the 4 cards in their hand combined with three community cards on the board to make the best 5 card hand. Omaha tends to have a higher level of variance, as it is much harder to put opponents on a hand. Many top-level pros play Omaha poker very frequently and some even prefer it to Holdem.
7 Card Stud
7 card stud involves as the name suggests seven cards. 7 card stud players are dealt 2 cards face down and one face up as their starting hand. The players are then dealt one card at a time (face up); with the final card being dealt face down. Poker players have a total of 7 cards in their hand but they can only use five of the seven cards to make up the best 5 card hand they can. Poker players are able to bet after each card is dealt. There are a total of 5 betting rounds in this game. 7 card stud is generally played as a limit games but pot limit and no limit seven card stud games have been known to take place.
